Leicester deal for Shakespeares

Lisa Botterill, a corporate partner at Shakespeares has advised on Shakespeares’ first Leicester based transaction. Beaumanor Engineering, a manufacturer and distributor in the hydraulic and pneumatic market has acquired hydraulics specialist Derek Lane & Co.

The acquisition is part of Beaumanor’s strategy to grow the business through a new distribution network in Devon and Cornwall, and allow it to broaden the range of products and services it can offer nationally.

Beaumanor was founded in 1974 as a manufacturer of brass turned pipe fittings. It employs 35 people locally and has a turnover of £5.5million.

Derek Lane, which will keep its name, employs 25 people and has a turnover of £2.5million.

Also involved were corporate financial experts RSM Tenon.

Lisa said: “This was a very satisfying deal for Shakespeares as it is our first Leicester based transaction since we opened an office here in December. We have already completed several other deals for clients based in the East Midlands already.”
