Shakespeares win runner up trophy at Midlands Family Business Awards

The runner up trophy for ‘Leading Adviser to Family Businesses’ was awarded to Shakespeares at last night’s (17 November) annual Midlands Family Business Awards.

Held at Birmingham Town Hall, the not for profit charitable event recognises the contribution of family businesses to the regional and national economy. Other categories include ‘Rural Family Business of the Year’ and ‘Best Small Family Business’.

This is the second year the firm has been shortlisted. Commenting on the awards Richard Brackenbury, partner said:

“Independent surveys indicate that family businesses account for 65 percent of private sector enterprises in the UK. This is a great accolade for Shakespeares and shows our commitment to the local community and the values that our firm share with many family owned businesses.”

Mansfield based Baggaley Construction took the top prize to be named ‘Midlands Family Business of the Year’.

The awards’ panel of independent judges included Tim Storer, managing director of Pukka Pies and Colin Slater, MBE.

The ceremony was sponsored by Smith Cooper and underwritten by Nottingham insurance and financial advisory firm The Wilson Organisation, itself a third generation family business. Business Insider magazine are media partners.
